  8. XFree86 is {X server + XFree code} - it is a specific hardware `type' in that
  9. it has it's own ddx backend for X.  The X server is made up of various
  10. modules, one of them is ddx - the `device dependent' end.  XFree86 is one
  11. such backend that happens to support VT switching.  XNest is another DDX,
  12. as is the vfb, virtual frame buffer.  To give you more of an idea, the
  13. standard X distribution comes with the following 'device drivers'
  14. (minus the armlinux entry of course):
